Contrary to popular belief, the shaft of a traditional sai is not a blade. In Hollywood, sai are often portrayed as much more offensive weapons, being used as swords, daggers, and throwing knives. It appeared in many popular movies, TV series, and animation series, such as Daredevil, Elektra, The Mummy Returns, The Matrix Reloaded, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
